For the duration of the 5th Cycle of Mimi Imfurst’s popular drag competition Philly Drag Wars, we teamed up with her to bring you all the latest and greatest from her sickening queens. Now she’s taking Drag Wars on the road to Baltimore for their very first cycle, and we’re along for the ride. With a new city, a whole crew of sickening new contestants, and two new mentors (plus one transplant from Philly), there’s a lot of excitement surrounding this contest. As with all cycles of Drag Wars, the contestants will be divided onto one of three teams, as they sissy that walk tonight in their audition number hoping to be chosen by one of the three Baltimore Drag Wars mentors. Mimi made sure to get three sickening queens (who couldn’t be more different from one another) to guide the girls throughout their time in the competition.
Philadelphia’s Premiere Christian Drag Queen, Bev, (a Baltimore native herself) is going to be traveling from the City of Brotherly and Sisterly Love each and every Sunday night to help her team along. She channeled her performance talents and comedic abilities to claim one Drag Wars crown in Philly for herself, and to help lead Cycle 4 victor Pissi Myles to her own win. She also helped Cycle 5’s break-out star and runner up Astala Vista get her footing in the competition and local drag community. With 4 Cycles’ worth of Drag Wars experience behind her (Cycle 3 and All Stars as a competitor, and Cycle 4 and Cycle 5 as a mentor), Bev certainly knows what it takes to succeed in this type of a competition.
Joining the panel of mentors in Baltimore is the glamorous, talented, and usually sparkly Kristina Kelly. Kristina is a queen who knows a thing or two about winning drag competitions as well! Having been recently crowned East Coast All American Goddess At Large 2015, it’s clear that she has all the talent and grace required to succeed. With the ability to turn out a gorgeous costume and work a runway, her mentoring skills may be particularly useful to her girls for the runway challenge portion of the competition, a portion of the contest that counts for half of the girls’ score each and every week.
Rounding out the judge’s panel is the genderfuck and one-of-a-kind bearded beauty, Klitorika Browne. One look at Klitorika is all it takes to realize that she is a queen who truly knows how to stand out in a crowd. Her distinct style of make-up has become a trademark that has earned her national (and even international) attention, landing her a guest spot on James Saint James’s YouTube series Transformations. With his unique stylings and off-the-wall sense of humor, Team Klitorika might just be a force to be reckoned with!
We’ll be checking in more with Mimi, the mentors, and contestants throughout the competition. If you’re in the area and you can make it out, be sure to catch up with all the mentors and the contestants each and every Sunday night. You can also check them out on their social media pages and see where/when they’ll be performing on DragMyCity. The Baltimore battle begins tonight, but the war is only just getting started. The whole show kicks off at Grand Central at 10 PM.
